First Day of 5th Grade

Today was the boys first day of 5th grade.  I cannot believe that this is their last year in elementary school.  They were not looking forward to it, but of course had a good time.  We are looking forward to a great 5th grade year!

Michigan-Beach and the Dune Climb

On our final day in Michigan we spent the morning at the beach.  The water was cold, but it was beautiful.  We enjoyed looking for Petoskey stones (didn't find any) and just relaxing by the water.  We couldn't keep Cabo out of the water until finally he was tuckered out and kept whining so we had to put him in time-out!  We then headed back to the camper to get cleaned up for dinner.  We went out to eat for our last night and then stopped by the Dune Climb on our way back.  The Dune Climb was so much fun.  It was a lot of work to get to the top, but the view was so worth it.  We stayed up there for quite a while playing around until we finally ran down to the bottom!  Michigan was such a great trip.  We will definitely be going back someday!

Michigan-Kayaking and Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive

Friday morning we went kayaking on the Crystal River.  The river was so clear and pretty and the boys absolutely loved it.  The best part was what they called "Shooting the Tube".  At one point in the trip we rode our kayak down a huge tube into the lower part of the river.  After kayaking we went back to the camper for lunch and to chill for a while.  Finally, we headed out to Pierce Stocking Drive.  The have a few placed to get out to look out over all the dunes.  At Lake Michigan Overlook the boys whined and complained and wanted to stay in the car.  We made them get out and oh boy oh boy were they in heaven!  This is the best view of the dunes and the lake.  We stayed here for hours just so the boys could run around and play in the sand.
