M-E-X-I-C-O....this is how I Mexico!

During the boys Fall Break this year we decided to go on vacation to Mexico!  The boys rode an airplane for the first time and they were very excited about going to another country.  Levi cried for about a minute when the plane took off, but then he was fine.  Will and Max giggled and thought it was really cool.  We arrived at our resort by 11 a.m.  After we ate lunch we changed into our swim wear and started enjoying our vacation!  The boys immediately tried a Strawberry Daiquiri at the swim up bar.  We swam at the pool for a while until a beach party was set up.  They had an array of seafood specialties to eat and several coconut and pineapple drinks to enjoy.  The chef put on a show in the ocean with water powered rocket boots which the boys thought was awesome.  Max said "Good thing we got here today dad, or we would have missed the party!"  We spent our days going from the ocean to the pool to the ocean to the pool to the hot tub!  Max picked up snorkeling really well and he was down in the water more than he was up.  The boys loved being able to eat and drink whatever they wanted whenever they wanted.  They especially loved the breakfast buffet and of course all of the frozen drinks.  When we asked which drink was their favorite they say "strawberry daiquiri, banana daiquiri, blue coconut slushy and pina colada"!  So they loved them all!  Max took to ordering room service and would even tip the person that brought his snack to the door.  The boys made so many friends from around the country and even had a friend from Scotland. Since we've been home the boys have been waking up in the mornings saying "I wish I was in Mexico!"  We had such a great time with the boys and Riviera Maya was absolutely beautiful.  We will definitely go back!

Update on Will.

Will has been doing pretty good since he's been home from the hospital.  However he still gets headaches and neck pain and we can tell he gets worn out if he does too much.  We were supposed to go back to the neurosurgeon last week but they decided to hold off until the end of October because they want to do another MRI of his head and neck.  Unfortunately, he has to be sedated for this and will miss more school.  He will also freak out once we tell him about it.  We started letting Will go to recess once a day because one day there was no one to watch him inside so he sat on the bench outside.  We thought that would be okay and give him a chance to at least be with the other kids.  However, sitting on the bench turned into playing tag, playing on the equipment, etc.  Since we thought he would be released from restrictions this week we just let it go.  However, since he still gets headaches and neck pain the doctor said he has to continue restrictions until further notice, including no recess.  He can only do light activities at home when we can supervise him and he won't be released until he is completely headache free.  They did give him release to travel since we are going on vacation to Mexico next week, but his physical restrictions still apply.  We follow-up with his neurologist in Mid-November and hopefully we can scale back his anti-seizure medicine at that time.

I cannot believe that it's been nearly 2 months since his fall and he still has pain.  We still worry about him constantly.  He gets tired of us asking if he has a headache and he likes to tell us he's fine, but we know better!  We know he just wants to be able to play like normal again, but it's not worth the risk.  I have a feeling it may be a few more months until his restrictions are lifted but it's all worth it for him to be completely healed.

Apple Picking!

We went apple picking this past weekend at Eckert's in Grafton.  We stopped and had lunch at Beasley's Fish Market before heading to Eckert's.  We took a hayride to the orchard where the boys kept finding the "perfect apple".  There were so many "perfect" apples that we went home with about 50 pounds of apples.  (The apples turned into a few pies and about 2 1/2 dozen jars of apple butter later in the week.)  Finally we headed over to Grandma Sue's for a Bar-B-Que.  It was a great fall day!
