Mother's Day Weekend

I'd rather have experiences than gifts, so the boys made sure we had plenty of fun experiences over the weekend.  Friday night we rode our bikes on the Katy Trail to RT Weilers for dinner.  The boys had a pitcher of root"beer" and we had a plate full of chicken wings and dinner in dog bowls.  We then headed down the street for ice cream!  Finally, we rode our bikes home in the dark which was actually really fun.  Saturday we went for a 6 mile hike at Matson Hill Park in Defiance.  It was a beautiful day to spend outdoors.  The trail didn't have much to see, but it was still fun.  However, we did have quite the run in with ticks which made for an interesting evening.  We then headed to the park for the boys baseball game, which the other team didn't show up for.  Since there was no other team, they still played an impromptu game with some parents under the lights which was fun.  Finally, on Sunday the boys woke me to an extremely "fancy" breakfast.  They were all dressed in nice clothes, I had flowers on the table, we had mimosas, Quiche, fruit and biscuits and gravy.  The boys each made me a nice card and even though I didn't want a gift, they got me a paddle board!  I'm really excited about it since the boys got one for Christmas and now we can go paddle boarding together.  We spent the rest of the day visiting with Grandma Sue and then having diner at Grandma Hackmann's.  It was a perfect Mother's Day weekend and I am very blessed to have these three call me mom!

Field Day

The boys had field day on Friday and this year both Dale and I were able to volunteer.  It was a beautiful day and the boys had a lot of fun.  We volunteered in the morning and stayed and had lunch with them before we left.  It always fun to see the boys in their school environment!

Happy 8th Birthday!

Happy happy birthday to my now 8 year old boys!  They are getting so big and smart and are more like little men now than little boys.  They love to learn new things and they love to be outside.  They have really gotten into watching sports and it's so fun to watch with them when they get excited about good plays.  They are best friends and worst enemies!  They think nothing of their constant fighting, but watch out if someone else messes with them!  They are brothers and will fiercely protect each other.  They are caring and compassionate and loud, very very loud!  They are our world and we are so proud of them!

We were supposed to take them camping in our new (to us) camper for their birthday, but since it rained all weekend long we had to cancel.  We just took it easy around the house and went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  After dinner we went to pick up Baylen and Colton to have a sleepover.  Finally, on Sunday we took all the boys roller skating.

The boys each begged for jersey's for their birthday.  This goes to show how different their personalities are.  Will wanted a Yaddie Cardinals jersey, Max had to have a Chris Johnson Arizona Cardinal's Jersey (how does he even know who these player are?) and Levi had to have a Pittsburgh Penguins Crosby Captains jersey.  They were super excited to have gotten their jerseys.  I have a feeling I will be telling them that they have to wear other clothes sometimes!

Bunnies!

We found some baby bunnies in our yard by our big tree.  We enjoyed checking on them for a couple of days, but then it was time for the grass to be mowed.  They are pretty dumb and do not move when you come close to them, so we decided to relocate them before the grass was mowed.  (After I read what was the best thing to do.)  There were 3 bunnies, but we could only find 2 to relocate.  Hopefully the third had already moved along!  The boys really enjoyed watching the baby bunnies!

Easter

This year the Easter Bunny brought non candy treats that included beef jerky and Fitz's Root Beer.  He also had to hide the eggs inside since it was raining.  Now that they are getting older the hiding spots were more tricky so it was fun watching them try to find all the eggs.  We then got ready and went to church.  Our Pastor is a Cubs fan and always seems to throw a comment out about the Cubs winning the world series to be funny.  Well he of course mentioned something again, and our dear sweet Levi is cracking up yelling "Boo Cubs" in the middle of church.  It was hysterical!  I think Dale and I were bright red, but Levi was just laughing and so proud of himself!  After chruch we went to visit with Grandma Sue.  Finally, for dinner we went up to Aunt Megan's.  It was a very nice Easter!

Shaw Nature Reserve

We had to go pick up a work truck in Washington on Saturday so on the way back we decided to go to Shaw Nature Reserve for a hike since we had never been there.  Katlin and Taylor came along with us and we walked 4.5 miles on the trails.  It was a beautiful day to be outside and enjoy nature.
