Flooding

On June 1st, we officially became landlocked due to flooding.  We stayed here mostly, but would get a ride from Roy Weber when we needed to go out for a baseball game.  With the roads being flooded, and the only way to get around being the Katy Trail, the boys were able to have free reign of Black Walnut.  They rode their bikes, dirt bike, golf cart and 4-wheeler on the road.  They played basketball on the street.  The could basically go wherever they wanted until there was water.  We had parties with the neighbors, including a Blues watch party at our house.  We only had a little bit of water in our yard when it was at it's highest, but otherwise we stayed dry.  The fist night we were stuck, there was a terrible storm and we lost power for a couple of days.  Luckily Ameren was able to boat in and fix it.  Other than that, we cannot complain of the inconvenience as there are a lot more homes and properties that were not as lucky as us.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend we took our camper up to Mark Twain Lake.  We played at the beach, made a slip and slide and even went mudding at our friend Ben and Erica's place.  It was a fun weekend away with friends and family!

Will goes to the ER!

Max's class had and end of the year party at the park.  All the kids were playing capture the flag when Will ran into a tree branch.  He couldn't open his eye and when he finally took his hand away for me to look, his eye was all bloody and blood was running down his face.  Being that it was late in the afternoon on a Friday and the eye doctor was closed, I had to take him to the ER.  He had several corneal scratches, luckily that's all it was.  Once the doctor put in the numbing drops he felt much better, besides being sensitive to the light.  A few days of eye drops and he was as good as new.

Field Trips and School Projects

The beginning of May was full of school projects and field trips for the boys.  We had a trip to Main Street St. Charles to see the first State Capitol and then another to Jefferson City.   Max's class has a class play in which Max played the Wicked Step Daddy.  We were very proud of Max for going out of his comfort zone to play a part in the play.  Finally 4th grade put on a live history museum.  Each 4th grader chose someone from Missouri History to write a speech about.  They then dressed up as the person and had a live history museum.  They all did very well.

Max made us dinner of Mexican Shrimp Cocktail and Nachos!

Happy 10th Birthday!

I cannot believe that the boys are 10!  Time has flown by and the boys are turning into little men.  We celebrated with a family barbecue the day before their birthday and on their birthday we took a bike ride to Main Street for dinner to test out their new Mountain Bikes.  It was a beautiful night and a great way to celebrate 10 years!  I am so proud of these boys and cannot wait to see what the next 10 years brings.
