Michigan-Torch Lake

On Wednesday we rented a boat on Torch Lake.  The water on Torch Lake looks like the Caribbean.  The pictures don't do it any justice.  It was chilly so we weren't in the water too much but took several boat rides to explore.  We rode through the Chain of Lakes to explore 2 more lakes.  All in all we traveled 2 rivers and 3 lakes. We started at Clam Lake into Torch Lake.  We then took the Torch River to Lake Skegemog.  We headed back through Torch Lake and did some tubing on Clam Lake.  Finally we took the Grass River to Lake Bellaire.  So even though it was chilly, we were able to explore and enjoy our day boating.

Michigan-The U.P.

We drove across the scary 5 mile long Mackinaw Bridge to the U.P. for a day of hiking on Tuesday.  We hiked Tahqumenon Falls from the lower falls to the upper falls.  They have a brewery at the top so we enjoyed a beer after finishing our hike.  We took a shuttle back to the bottom rather than hiking back because Cabo was DONE!  We then headed to Whitefish Point to explore the lighthouse and Lake Superior.  We could see Canada from the shore and I even received a text from my phone carrier that said Welcome to Canada.  The boys loved skipping rocks in the lake and playing in the sand.  Finally we headed to Browns Fisheries Fish House for some fresh Smoked Whitefish and lake trout before driving back to the campground.

Michigan-Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island

We began our Michigan journey with a 1 night stay at Young State Park located right on Lake Charlevoix.  We had a lake view site and enjoyed a few hours playing in the lake before we headed to our next spot, Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in Mackinac Island.  This campsite was awesome in that it was surrounded by Lake Huron and had a view of Mackinaw Bridge and Island.  We hung out at the beach the first day and the next day we headed to Mackinac Island.  We took the ferry over and rode our bike all around the island exploring.  We saw Arch Rock, had a lake front lunch and of course got some fudge.  We then headed back to our campsite to grill dinner.
